My son does play online with his friends on his Switch - and I haven't really been restricted his time on the phone too much - its really the only time he gets to "hang out" with his friends.

We do switch time as well as a way to play with other kids. We also typically use it as a motivator - if he gets his work and chores done, he gets switch time.

Screen time is the currency - they earn it by doing other things
